Now in the 30th year of his career as a teacher and school leader, Mr. Matt Seely is the founding principal of Riverton Classical Academy in Heyburn, Idaho.  Mr. Seely is a teacher at heart.  Knowing early on that he was destined to work in K-12 education, he obtained a teaching certificate in History and Mathematics.  After teaching at the junior high and high school levels for several years, he moved to school leadership at the elementary level, where he led two elementary campuses over an 18 year period.  Along this journey, he has continually sought to improve public education - studying the tenets of sound learning and always promoting policies and practices that put children’s deep learning as priority number one.  After years of encountering obstacles to his goal of elevating education, Mr. Seely is delighted to have joined the American classical education movement through Hillsdale’s K–12 Education Office and American Classical Schools of Idaho (ACSI). Becoming part of the American classical education community has aligned his lifelong pursuit of educational excellence with a collaborative, vision-driven team. This opportunity is deeply meaningful to him and fulfills long-standing professional and personal goals.

My vision is to create an educational environment where students acquire the skills necessary to access the beauties of profound learning. I am eager to engage students in the highest matters and deepest questions of truth, justice, virtue and beauty. My aspiration is that Riverton Classical Academy will produce outstanding citizens and moral, capable human beings.
